WHAT IS VAL?
Values are beliefs that define what is important for the person. The values are detected by the VALues Questionnaire, which provide information about the compatibility with the organizational context.
The VALues Questionnaire is based on Schwartz’s model which identifies a taxonomy of 10 cross-cultural values.
The knowledge of the values priority of persons allow to anticipate where they will use their resources, where they will direct the organizational actions and their skills, and which scenarios of actions will be most probably chosen.
The structure of values can be summarized in two main axes:
- Self-enhacement vs. Self-transcendence
- Openness to change vs. Conservation
It can be used in selection, development, individual and group coaching, career guidance and counseling.
It can allow the recognition of the harmony between individual and organizational values and represent a good preddittor of engagement and organizational involvement.
